Emilio Isgrò (Barcellona di Sicilia 1932)

Emilio Isgrò is an Italian conceptual artist and painter known for his "erasure" technique. He began making his first erasures in 1964 on encyclopedias and books, contributing to visual poetry and conceptual art. He participated in the Venice Biennale (1972, 1978, 1986, 1993) and won first prize at the São Paulo Biennale in 1977. Emilio Isgrò from 1956 to the present lives and works in Milan as head of the cultural pages of the Gazzettino newspaper.
