Achille Perilli (Rome 1927-Orvieto 2021)

One of the artists who signed the Forma group (signed not only by Perilli, but also by Accardi, Attardi, Consagra, Dorazio, Guerrini, Sanfilippo, Turcato) which was published in the first issue of the magazine of the same name. In 1948, he collaborated with Sottsass jr on the first exhibition of abstract art in Italy at the Galleria di Roma. In 1945, together with Dorazio, Guerrini, Vespignani, Buratti, Muccini and Maffioletti, he founded the Gruppo Arte Sociale (GAS), and collaborated on the birth and editing of the magazines Ariele and La Fabbrica, organ of the GAS, of which only one issue was published. The following year, he exhibited at the GAS exhibition together with Aymonino, Barbagallo, Busiri-Vici, Canonica, Dorazio, Guerrini, and Vespignani, held in the PSI section in Via Molise, and later at the 'La Fabbrica' prize exhibition held on the pavements of Via Veneto. Together with Dorazio and Guerrini, he founded the 'Age d'Or' bookshop-gallery, with which he became the organiser of various artistic events, including his collaboration at the Milan Triennale invited by Lucio Fontana. His research and practice were characterised by the use and combination of geometric shapes and bright colours, with which Perilli experimented and investigated the medium of painting.
